Mixed Bag for Casinos Figures

The figures released by Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission have shown themselves to be a mixed bag.
Council Bluffs Casinos bought in $39.1 million in revenue in May which is up by $1.3 million compared to May 2005. The figures for April were $40.6 million so last months figures were down by $1.5 million.
The casino with the highest gross revenue was Horseshoe Casino for the second month running with $16.1 million which is down from April by about $300,000. The casinos first full month of operation bought in 264,870 guests.
Des Moines Prairie Meadows Casino bought in $15.3 million which beat Ameristar Casino Hotels figure of $14.3 million. Ameristars figure for the same month one year ago showed a better result of $16.6 million.
Ameristar showed a drop of 14% for May while Harrah's showed a drop of 18% for the same month in 2005.
Horseshoe casino showed an increase of $5.5 million from the same month last year since they took over from Bluffs Run Casino.
