Slot Machines That Changed Lives

    People play slot machines for a lot of reasons, for fun, to relax and sometimes just to pass the time but no one would argue that a big win is always at the back of their minds.     On a typical day in 1989 Las Vegas resident Elmer Sherwin walked into a casino on the strip and did something a lot of us would consider a dream. He won the 4.6 million dollar jackpot on a casino slot machine.

    For most of us that would have been enough but it was never enough for this ambitious gambler, not even for a day or two. The next day he was back on the slots trying to fulfill what he is quoted as saying become "a lifelong dream"; to beat the slots to millions of dollars, for a second time.     Elmer had to wait twenty years to see his dream become a reality but when he finally pulled it off, the rewards were even bigger than the first time, 21.1 million dollars. Interviewed after the amazing win the optimistic Mr Sherwin said he has always believed it would happen for him one day. He did admit, however, that his family were not always quite as optimistic as he was and he was looking forward to suprising them with the news. "I want to see the looks on their faces when they hear," Sherwin said. One can only imagine that the looks were, indeed, priceless.

Lucky Lunch-break

    It had already been a pretty long day for Thomas Kosik of Niles Illinois when he decided it was time to take a break and pop out for his lunch. He took the same route he always did only this day, he decided on a whim to have a bit of fun by putting twenty dollars in a slot machine.

    He was not really looking to win big, just to relax and take his mind off his work troubles.So no-one was more suprised than Thomas when the reels and the stars all aligned and he realised he was looking at win of $300,726. He knew immediately that this was a life changing sum of money but he admits that his first thought was that he would treat himself to a steak for his lunch rather than his usual chicken sandwich. It seems as good away as any to celebrate a huge win like that.
