Tribe Trying To Spice Up Casino. 2005-11-29
The Fort McDowells Yavapai Nation will open their own hotel/casino. They have purchased the 247-room Radisson Resort on Thursday, and are already ready to redecorate. This is a main trend for Arizona tribes to creating resorts/ casinos, with amusement parks and golf courses.
Proposition 202 prevents tribes near Phoenix from building more casinos. The Radisson is situated beside the casino just east of Fountain Hills. This location is expected to lure large groups to the site.
The budget resort will charge $175 to $200 for rooms in high season. In January through April, the number will be reduced by low $100s. The tribe won't disclose how much the construction will cost.
Fort McDowell's casino already has a golf course, RV park and Fort McDowell Adventures, an outdoor party venue. Many use this site to have cookouts and go river rafting or horseback riding. Now they will be able to do this and many more with the expansion ideas the tribe has for the casino.
