Serious About The Day Of The Dead. 2005-11-01
The Philippine National Police have been warned not to bring guns or other deadly weapons and avoid gambling inside the cemetery on All Saints and Souls Day. Police Regional Office 6ís Chief Superintendent Doroteo Reyes verified that the police will be in red alert status for the celebrations. This alert is not just for gambling, but drinking liquor inside the cemetery is also prohibited.
Reyes warned that any PNP member caught disobeying directions will be face charges. All provincial and city directors are to also to pay attention to security for the Oplan Kalag-Kalag or Oplan Kaluluwa. City Police Director Senior Superintendent Norlito Bautista had already instructed all his precinct commanders to dispatch all their available men in their area.
The Traffic Management and Engineering Unit (TMEU) had designated traffic supervisors to direct the traffic during the celebrations, which will last over two days. Maximum traffic personnel and traffic aides will be utilized to assist during traffic jams, and redirect cars though open routes.
