Online Casino Buys Art from 7-Year-Old Cancer Patient 2006-05-07
As the latest in a long-running series of unusual purchases on eBay, an online casino well-known for its extreme marketing ploys involving unique artefacts has recently bought the paintings of a seven-year-old boy suffering from cancer for $3,000.
Maddox Johnson, the small boy who is fighting against the terrible disease was reported to have said that he never imagined that his paintings would be worth so much money. Johnson was first inspired with the idea to contribute to his rising medical bills by selling some of his paintings on the online auction site, eBay.
eBay, is generally considered to be the world's leading internet market place, known for hosting auctions on a vast array of goods and services and Maddox suggested to his mother, Tenille Johnson that selling his art would be a good idea.
A representative with the online casino won the auctions after repeated bidding, purchasing eleven of the young cancer patient's paintings for $3,000. Other purchases the online casino has made in the past include sponsoring a man to drive his car off a cliff, William Shatner's kidney stone, the Pope's old VW Golf and a pregnancy test used by Britney Spears.
