Tennessee Needs Support Line For Gamblers.

In Tennessee lotto mania has been prevalent, since its inception in the state two years ago. Since then, the lottery hotline was surprised to know that gambling addicts were calling in. This past spring, at least 14 people have called in, seeking help.
Since the lottery is a relatively new concept, gambling problems could increase according to Stacy Bernard. Ms Bernard is a specialist with the Tennessee Association of Alcohol, Drug and other Addiction Services.
The General Assembly set aside $200,000 in 2004 for programs to prevent and treat gambling addictions. The money is being used t treatment centers, as well as possibly expanding to making a real lotto hotline. So far people are contacting Tennessee Redline Hotline, which also handles drug and alcohol addicts.
