Casino Fights Rod Stewart In Court.

Rod Stewart now needs to pay a fine. The fine comes as he cancelled a concert at a casino. He was ordered to pay $2 million for it.
Las Vegas' Rio Hotel Casino was the casino that Rod Stewart cancelled on. They paid the singer a large advance to headline the New Year weekend of 2000. He had to cancel because he was recovering from throat cancer. Stewart kept the advance, and was hoping to reschedule.
Although Stewart argued that he was within his rights to keep the advance, plus another promised show, a jury decided otherwise. Despite the fact he was recovering from the illness, the jury ruled in favor of the casino. It was because they agreed with the casino that another show would not be as lucrative as the cancelled one.
