Police stopped a Wah Hui gambling session before it started. It came about when the police arrested a 34-year-old man, who was presumed to have conducted the game. District Police Chief, DSP Mender Singh, said he was just acting on a tip-off.
The tip off was led by policemen under District Crime Officer ASP Shivananthan V. They rushed to the Kinarut Resettlement Scheme about 3pm on Thursday, after the word was out on what was going on. The raid police arrived to find their suspicions to be true; there were people, believed to have just gathered for the game.
The presence of the police made everyone run, but one man was caught. In addition, a number of gambling paraphernalia was also taken. Some success came to the police this one day.
The man is being held for further investigation. Through him they will try to trace those who escaped. They are not above the law, and will be caught too, Mender said.
