Operatives of Casino in NZ Fined. 2005-09-01
New Zealand has found themselves in a bit of trouble lately with their illegal casinos. It was discovered that an illegal casino was found in Auckland, New Zealand. This casino has become the first found in action, despite the fact, that there is a strong gambling act in country.
A person by the name of An Yi Li was caught running this casino. Instead of arrest, he has been fined $12,000, plus additional fees for the involvement in the act. This decision all came out of a court case surrounding this issue.
The Department of Internal Affairs, Deputy Secretary Andrew Secker witnessed last September, when the investigation took place. It came when custom offices found gambling chips with a face value of more than $480,000, as well as other gambling equipment being imported, into their Auckland airport.
In the basic investigation, on the “casino” premises there contained a lounge bar and four gambling rooms, complete with tables and other gambling equipment. Li just happened to be one of the seven people in a company charged with a variety of offences under the gambling act.
