Casinos Have The Opportunity to Build, and Donít Take It. 2005-08-16
In the three months that have passed since positions have been chosen for the go ahead for building new casinos in Detroit, many wonder why the building hasnít started yet. This concern is mainly coming from the city authorities, who have some sort of investment in such ventures. Due to this concern, a meeting has been scheduled by the Detroit city council along with lawyers and members of staff from the mayorís office, to figure out how to rectify this, and speed up this process.
This meeting with have special emphasis on the smallest casino in Detroit, called Greektown Casino. This casino has not yet come to the city with any permanent plans, but has gone to the Michigan Gaming Control Board in order to obtain some type of financial backing clear authorization. The casino has made an effort in the progress of erecting a stable casino infrastructure.
Detroitís three casinos were planned to be built in 2002, however these plans were delayed because of a lawsuit challenging the casinoís license bid. In April, construction was up and running again, but casinos update their plans. Now with the change, the concerns have risen again.
The concerns are around why the casinos havenít begun their construction processes. Council members are certain that plans will be change, and again the building will be underway. Casinos now need approval from the city and the gaming control board, and then they can really begin the process of construction.
