Bribe a Politician for Favors.

A federal prosecutor was tried last Thursday to bring down a British gambling executive. The executive claimed that he knew nothing about the role of the speaker of the Rhode Island House, when he supposedly offered him a $4 million bribe.
Former Chief Executive of Wembley PLC, Nigel Potter is one of two former executives affiliated with Lincoln Park. He was charged with plotting to bribe former Speaker John Harwood in hopes of winning support for a plan to add slot machines at the Lincoln Park dog track. British-based Wembley owned the track in Lincoln, R.I, until recently.
Potter was cross-examined last week in a trial in federal court in Worcester. Prosecutor Lee Vilker undermined Potter's claim that he didn't know whether Harwood had any political power. The federal procescutor additionally undermined his claim of innocent on other issues surrounding the case.
