Las Vegas Forms a Tribal Consulting Firm. 2005-07-10
Las Vegas executives formed a tribal consulting company recently. Now the company has submitted their first tribal casino contract. It is now in the hand of federal regulators for authorization.
Ellis Gaming, a liability company, three years in existence, has made deal with Kickapoo tribe in Oklahoma. The partnership is to build a $20 million expansion to their current casino. If approved with have 1,200 slots, 40 table games, 400 hotel rooms, and a few restaurants in the area. The five-year agreement must be agreed upon by the National Indian Gaming Commission.
The company has a few agreements with other tribes. The other tribes include one in Manitoba, Canada, three in California, and another in South Dakota. The companys principals include: Chief Executive John Groom, Chief Operating Officer Rick Richards and Chief Financial Officer Greg Yochum.
The company is aiming for deals to run casinos with 1,500 slots. More than 200 tribes across the United States still don't have casinos; others have difficultly getting land for their casinos or negotiating contracts in their states. It is a tricky issue that the executives hope to correct.
It is competitive venture, but the company is secure they will reach their aims. At the moment there is no movement, as federal regulators havent made any decisions on authorizing the contracts. Executives are not nervous; they have certain agreements with other tribes and are sure they will have another one with Kickapoo.
