Mega Millions Pot Grows. 2005-07-06
Mega Millions has just gotten crazier, in a story last week Mega Millions was at $ 53 million, last Tuesday, un-won, rising to $63 Million on the Friday version of the lotto, again un-won, led to a third round of the Mega Millions rise. Last night, for the third time Mega Millions tried to produce a win. Results on last nights lotto are can be claimed up to 24 hours after the drawing. So there is a hope that last nights lotto may have been hit.
Friday's Mega Millions drawing produced large amounts of people over the United States to purchase a ticket. This past weekend, more than 525,000 people claimed to have winning tickets, but they were unfounded. No ticket matched all six numbers that include 5 drawn numbers, and A Mega Ball bonus number. Many forget to count the Mega Ball number, and therefore do not have a full win ticket.
Fridays numbers were 14-25-41-42-50 with the Mega Ball # 40. Of the estimated 526,438 tickets that won prizes in the Friday, July 1, 2005 drawing, three tickets were one number away from winning the jackpot. They had missed the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were sold in Georgia, Massachusetts, and New York. Those tickets won $250,000, for having at least 5 of the numbers. California, had there been a winning ticket, prizes would be pari-mutuel by the state.
Mega Millions is played in 12 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Odds like that it would seem possible one person would win all six numbers, but for every fail comes another ten million extra, so when there is a lucky winner, he will have a little extra to look forward to. Mega Millions are held Tuesdays and Fridays, if not today a win claim, maybe $83 Million on Friday.
