Gambling May Not Be A Christian Thing, But It Keeps Bailey Happy. 2005-06-28
Chris Bailey, is a devoted Christian, and devoted poker player. He is not only good, but he and his younger brother Donald, are tournament players in the game. Bailey is now fighting both his joys in life. Itís a problem for sure, but he claims he will still be a Christian, who plays the game.
Bailey is from Martinez, a very big active Christian community, and that is part of his demon. He plays well, well enough to win free seats in the $10,000 main event of the World Series of Poker, July 7th in Las Vegas. Something he has been thrilled about, but his neighbors may very well not be.
Needless to say, the religion, and the game donít go hand in hand. Doyle Brunson, who wrote the rules and strategies on No-Limit Hold eím Poker, has the same issue. Chris ďJesusĒ Ferguson, who lost to Bailey on an on line tournament, is also a devout Christian, just look at his name.
Bailey, who enjoys watching poker, as much as playing, doesnít look like he will have to decide between religion, and the game. Since there are so many devotees in the game, he and others wonít need to choose between the two. In fact the faith is what keeps these players winning, happily.
