Leeds Makes Super Casino. 2005-06-23
Governmental issues surrounding the Gambling Act in England have not slowed Leeds plans to create their own casinos. The original plans were to create 40 gaming areas, only to be reduced to one. The idea being that, one will pass through Parliament, and that is the most important thing. One super casino next to Leeds United Elland Road will on its way by next year.
Culture Minister, Richard Caborn was noted to indicate that they government would have to give up plans of four casinos in the country, and that Leeds would in probability not be a revived issue. It seems though that statement might not be a correct one. Plans, seemingly, are back on.
Stanly Lesiure, Britainís biggest casino operator paid 5 million pounds in October for land behind Revie Stand, and 125 Million pounds for all the things with a restaurant/casino. This construction is supposed to allow for a minimum of 1,000 jobs. The move will bring about an economic boom to the gambling industry in Britain.
Member of Parliament, John Grogan was at the House of Commons on Monday to ask about the rumors surrounding its softened position on super casinos. After everything they had to do to get the law passed, Grogan commented, there is no harm in asking the questions. After all future ventures can be changed, and reevaluated.
