Hamilton's Riverside Entertainment Centre has won the tourism and leisure property award at the Property Council's annual building awards.
Project managers Arrow International entered the building into the event.
The landmark 1920s former Chief Post Office was restored as an unseperetable part of the development and offers a distinctive front door and street address for the entertaiment centre.
Judges complimented its art deco style which had been retained and was reflected in the new development.
"Retail tenancies around the central atrium of the building provide a fitting transition from Hamilton's main street into the entertainment centre itself."
Within the centre the casino seems to be the main attraction.
There is also a 10 pin bowling and games facility.
Riverside won the award along with Wellington's Courtney Central Development.
The Property Council represents 500 companies and 1100 property owners with an established $14 billion invested in property.
