Republicans against Gov. James E. McGreevey's offer

Reports in new Jersey inform us that Republicans in Atlantic City might try to kill Governor James E. McGreevey's proposal by bringing up an alternative proposal to the one he did. McGreevey's proposal has offered to save $600 million dollars and therefore was considered to be a very good one.
The suggestion by the democrats offered instead of McGreevey's includes a 40-cent per pack hike on cigarettes, a 7 percent accommodation tax and a realty transfer tax. The offer did not include the new legislation which was McGreevey's proposal to raise the casino-revenue tax from 8 percent to 10 percent while imposing the sales tax on complimentary rooms and meals casinos give to their top customers.
For any taxes to be lowered or higher, regulators must pass a stable budget and must locate and deliver details of a founding source for any tax hike it votes down.
Republicans fail to agree with his proposal. Many citizens believe that his suggestion is one step toward his falling down the road...
