Australian Actress to Play Bond Girl 2006-01-16
The UK daily The Mail on Sunday has reported that the role of Bond Girl in the latest James Bond film has finally been filled.
According to the article, Casino Royale director Martin Campbell and Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson have decided to offer the part of Vesper Lynd to Australian actress Rose Byrne.
Byre, who is 26 years old, came to the attention of Casino Royale’s producers when she played opposite Brad Pitt in the 2004 epic film Troy, as the Trojan priestess Briseis. She has also appeared in Wicker Park and Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.
The producers of Casino Royale have been repeatedly turned down by the Hollywood starlets they approached for the Bond girl role. Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron, Naomi Watts, and Sienna Miller have all declined the opportunity.
Casino Royale, which is the 21st film in the James Bond series, stars Daniel Craig as James Bond. Filming will begin this month, and is scheduled for worldwide release on November 16, 2006. It will be filmed in the Czech Republic, the Bahamas, Italy and the UK.
